1st October 2011......AFTER 12.00pm!!! Still here!! Takes a long time to put on pictures. I have quite a few pictures of our puppies (2 YRS OLD!) and others to put on yet but I shall finish my blog first of all!! Our next travels with the dogs was to Darlington Dog Show which used to be held in the park in Darlington but for some while now is held instead at Newby Hall Estate which is fairly close to Ripon in North Yorkshire. This year we decided to take our caravan and we actually had a great three days away apart from the fact that Tim managed to snap the cable for the electrics when he took a turning too sharp! Luckily we found a caravan leisure centre just off the motorway and after about an hour we were on our way again! The caravan site was enormous but a super field......put the Royal Highland Show ground to shame as far as we were concerned. There was plenty of space for caravans, cars, awnings and huge pens for dogs. The toilets were on site and extremely posh ones at that kept spotless and at night there were large spotlights. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful if the need arose and all was kept tidy. We took all four dogs with us although it was only Sophie and Sasha that were being shown. Our Judge was Swedish, Mr Jahn Staav and he was very polite and friendly and took time to go over all the dogs thoroughly. Anyway Sophie was 1st in her class and Sasha was VHC (5th). The day after the judging we went for a lovely walk along the river bank and canal bank at Boroughbridge and the dogs all had a ball. Tiffany decided to stay and guard the caravan as she thought the day before enough exercise for one day! We also managed to pay a visit to an American friend of ours, Sandy Mairs who lived nearby and also has Highland Ponies as well as a Giant and a Mini Schnauzer. Here are a few pics of the show and our walk along the river.

After Thornton we went off to the Highland Show with Rannoch, our stallion and all the dogs and a great time was had by all!! The dogs always enjoy being at the show with us and like speaking to people and we had a great show as described on our ponies page winning the Male Championship in hand with Rannoch and he was also Reserve Supreme. After the Highland Show our next dog show was at Kinross Show where we always show the ponies. I decided to enter Sasha and Sophie but soon discovered that because Sasha has a CC she couldn't be entered so instead we entered Teal the Labrador and Sophie. Teal was in a huge class and although the Judge came back time and time again to look at her she wasn't placed. However Sophie saved the day (because we didn't do anything with the ponies!!) by being awarded 1st prize in another huge mixed class. Next proper dog show was SKC on Saturday 27th August to which I took Alfie Sasha and Sophie. Tim decided to come and help which was great and Alfie's owners also came along to watch for a change. Just as well they did because he won his class then went on to be awarded a Reserve Challenge Certificate (RCC) to my delight and also to his owners. Sophie was 1st in her class and Sasha was 3rd so all in all it was a good day. Here are a few photos from the day.

Sophie Here is one of Sasha at home with two rather hairy friends who needed a hair cut!!
Sasha and two very hairy friends!!! 12th June 2011 On April 9th it was The Scottish Utility Breeds Club held as usual at Bo'ness and I took Sasha and Sophie only. Both won their classes and Sasha this time was Best of Breed. A good day was had by all bringing home another Trophy. The following Sunday, we had Perth Dog Show to which I took just the girls again. This time, Sasha was 1st and Sophie was 3rd and again Sasha was Best of Breed and another Trophy to take home. After that we had another Open Show held this time in Thorton, Fife. There were no classes for Schnauzers but I had entered Sophie & Sasha for Any Variety Not Separately Classified. However I only took Sasha leaving Sophie at home as we were looking after her sister for her owners and I thought they would enjoy playing with each other. Sasha also enjoyed being the centre of attention. She was in a large class of Utility dogs and she was 2nd which pleased me. I had also entered her in a Stakes class and she was 1st in that so ...not a bad day!. Our friends had their Miniatures there and I actually took a few piccies of them and my other friend who has two of our puppies took a few pics of me and Sasha. Our next show was the BIG one at SKC, Edinburgh. There are only the two Championship shows for Standard Schnauzers in Scotland so I never miss them! Even give up Horse Shows for them....compeltely unheard of for me! Anyway..off we went again only with the girls as Alfie's owner, Dougie forgot to enter him!! I usually do his entries but on this occasion had left it to Dougie! Never again! Sophie's class was first and I was gobsmacked when she was pulled out 1st. A great achievement for her and of course it immediately qualifies us for Crufts 2012. Yippee!! Next was Sasha. I had decided to enter her in the Open Class as she is 5 years old now and I thought she should go up a class. Again we had decent entries and lo and behold she was pulled in First! I was absolutely delighted but then I had to find someone to take one of the girls in the line-up for Best Bitch. I quickly found a friend who shows Miniature Schnauzers and dragged him into the ring and handed him Sasha as I though that she would show better with a relative stranger than Sophie. They both did their run a round again then imagine my surprise and pleasure when he walked over to Sandy and gave him the ticket!!!!! Yoo Hoo!!!! All my Mini freinds shouted and cheered and I think so did some of the Standard folk!!! Next it was Sasha against the unbeaten Dog and she was awarded Best of Breed! I was so proud of her that day. Needless to say the day that Tim wasn't with me I would do so well and of course no photographer!!! Once I get organised I shall post a piccie of Sasha on here with her prizes. We now have the right to call her a Champion but she can't get the Title added in front of her name until we win another two CC's. So............ watch this space!!! Of course she also qualifies for Crufts for life now that she has won her first CC.30th April 2011 Back again with more news about Schnauzers and a Labrador! In February we had the Caledonian Dog Show held at Ingliston, and I took Alfie, Sasha and Sophie. Tim also came which was unusual but I was so glad to have his help and I even involved him in showing the dogs! There were the two classes, Post Graduate and Open so I was able to show Sophie in Post Graduate which she won. Next was the Open class in which I took Alfie and gave Tim Sasha shouting instructions in his ear! Sasha won that class but Sophie was Best of Breed which was her first ever! Next was Crufts. We left on the Saturday later than we had planned as we woke up to 3" of snow! We almost didn't go as we had to wait and see whether Jimmy could drive up in his car as the road was pretty bad for a bit. However off we went with Sasha, Sophie and Alfie who belongs to the Smith family. As usual we stayed in The Holiday Inn at Birmingham Airport and once again we were well catered for and the dogs were on their best behaviour. I duly tidied the dogs up and in the morning we set off in the Hotel's coach which is great as it transports us, the dogs and all our bags and trolly etc. to Crufts. The first class that affected us was Alfie's. He was entered into Limit Dog where there was a good entry. Imagine my surprise and great pleasure when our Judge, Gill Ogburn pulled us into 2nd place. I think I must have had a huge smile on my face as this was the highest place I have ever had at Crufts. The dog that won Alfie's class went on to win Best of Breed. He was called Casso Quincy at Miccosukees . Next was Sophie's class....Post Graduate and once again a large entry. Once again I was absolutely delighted to be pulled in to 4th place which I was very pleased with since most of the bitches in that class were much older than Sophie as she just missed The Junior Bitch class by 4 days. Sasha was after Sophie in Limit Bitch and once again a good entry. Sasha was 5th but once again I was very pleased to receive a card. I was so pleased with them all as was Tim. We celebrated in the evening with a nice meal and drink. A few photos of them below follows:::

16th January 2011 A Very happy New Year to all who come on here to read my stories. Hadn't quite finished updating our 2010 news so will just add this on to this page. In October we had the Utility Breeds Show which is usually held at Bo'Ness. I duly went with just Sasha and Alfie as Sophie decided to come into season! It was a good show and Sasha won her class the went on to win Best Bitch and Best of Breed. The Judge came to me afterwards and said she was a lovely bitch with a beautiful coat! I was very pleased! No photos I'm afraid. Alfie wasn't as lucky being only 2nd in the Dog class. Of course after that we had Sprocket to stay for the weekend and as always she provided us with plenty of entertainment and fun for the rest of the dogs especially Sophie. Then, November came and so did the snow! It started around 21st November and we have only just got rid of it today.......16th January! It was extremely hard work looking after the ponies and even the dogs as the Schnauzers kept getting balls of snow on their leg hair rendering them almost unable to walk at times! In fact I eventually had to give in walking them as our road became a skating rink and I couldn't even get up into the forest to walk them. Here a few piccies of the snow and the dogs.

Then of course Christmas came and went. We had a quiet one with just the dogs
for company although we went to the Watch-night Service with our friends.
Tiffany always enjoys Christmas and as soon as I start to wrap presents she
seems to know it's Christmas. She loves tearing up the paper to find a dog
treat or bone! The rest like it just for the fun. Here are a few pics.

9th October 2010 At last I have some time on my hands to update this page of Tiffanys! As always life is so busy trying to divide time up between all the animals as well as keeping the house AND Tim under control!!! From reading what I have written I noticed that I hadn't put up any pictures of Sasha when she won Best of Breed and Group 4 in the Utility Group at Perth Show....so here they are.........
Sasha with her prizes.

Yona (Lady Penelope) one of Sasha's puppies was also there so here are a

In between times I often groom a few of Sasha's puppies and this time I
went off to Kinross to the home of Achnacarry Snow Maiden (Megan) who
belongs to Liz and Harry Young. Megan is much loved and is very lucky to
have the company of lots of Miniature Schnauzers too! I had a lovely day
grooming Megan and speaking to the Miniatures as well as Liz and Harry's
old Standard Schnauzer,Charlie. Charlie was bred by Sheana Martin and
is a litter brother to Bruce (Shered Snowy Kinght).

Also in August is the SKC Champ Show at Ingliston so off I went with Sophie
and Sasha. I had Yona's owner with me to help with the dogs and all the
extra equipment that invariably goes along to dog shows!!! The weather was
lovely albeit a little windy but at least it was dry. I was missing a horse
show which we like to go to. It is held in Aberdeen but as it always clashes
with SKC I go to it every second year now. In Scotland we do not have many
Championship Shows for showing Standard Schnauzers so any time I have a
chance I jump at it! Sophie was 2nd in the Junior Bitch class which pleased
me and Sasha was 3rd in Limit. However what really made my day was for the
first time I had entered the two of them in the Brace class, and we came
2nd!!!! I was so pleased because I have often entered the Brace with Sasha
and Tiffany in smaller shows but never really thought about SKC before
thinking you had to show spot on to win anything there. I must admit
Sophie and Sasah are very similar and about the same size so are a very good
match. I was lucky that they both walked pretty well together.
I put Sasha on the outside with Sophie on the inside and that seemed to
work pretty well. Anyway here a couple of pics from the day.

We also had another of Sasha's puppies, Sprocket, to stay for a few days as her owners were going south and for once couldn't take her with them. They often go camping and Sprocket is quite at home in the tent with her family. Sprocket is also part of a much loved family.

The next big event on our social calander was Darlington Dog Champ Show and a holiday after that in Devon to visit Tim's daughter, Su and partner, Kevin and their daughter, Faith who is only just 4 years old. All very exciting and a lot to prepare for before we left as we have a sick foal at the moment who has had pneumonia and has been on antibiotics for quite a long time. However we managed to engage the help of a very good friend to doze her twice a day and also managed to enroll a few other friends to look after the ponies and not forgetting our 17 year old cat, Sheaba. Off we went eventually. We stayed at the Holiday Inn near Leeds and were very comfortable and even the dogs were allowed in the hotel which is always a relief. The day of the show was good , no rain etc. We were after the Miniatures and after what seemed a long time, our turn came at last! I showed Sophie first in the Junior Bitch class and she was 3rd. Sasha was 4th in her class so not a very inspiring day! However Tim as always the chief photographer managed to take some piccies so here are some.
Hope the Judge wasn't looking!!!!! Sophie & I...

The following morning we set off on our long journey to Devon. We rented a cottage which was part of a converted barn on a farm near Kings Nympton. We have been there before and enjoyed it so much, we decided to book it again. It didn't disappoint us and as there is also a BHS Approved Riding School there too it was like home from home! We eventually arrived around 6ish and soon settled in and enjoyed our traditional Cream Tea which Karen always provides for he guests. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time in Devon having lots of fun with Faith at the beach and also going on walks with the dogs. We took ourselves off to Dartmoor one day but unfortunately it was rather misty and we couldn't see the ponies. However I did manage to take a nice picture of a sweet foal with its mother so that cheered me up! The other thing that made my day was we bumped into a Standard Schnauzer that was 14 years old but looked very fit. He was a black dog who was greying slightly but still very handsome. His owner was more than happy for me to take some pictures of him and I will add them on here. We also saw Su's new horse, May and Faith's little Shetland Pony as well as her Quad bike which she rides very well!! It was nice relaxing holiday and on the way home we stopped off to visit Tiffany's breeder, Mary Moore who chatted about Schnauzers etc. a perfect way to end a holiday!!! Here are a few pics from our time away.

That is most of our news I think and some of our hundreds of photos. The next show coming up for us is The Scottish Utility Breeds Show at Bo'Ness on Saturday 16th October so my job for the next week is to keep on top of the Schnauzers' coats!!! I am taking Sasha, Sophie and Alfie...so that will keep me out of mischief! Also this evening Sprocket is coming her holidays for 4 days so that will be....chaos!!! What would life be without animals?!! VERY DULL!!!!!!! Until the next time.............5th July 2010 Back again!! After SKC we had a couple of Open Shows in June. One was Dundee & District Show held at Camperdown Park and the day after we had one in Perth held at the Ice Rink. Anyway off we went to Dundee with Alfie, Tiffany, Teal, Sasha and Sophie!!! We met up with Gary and Beverley Knox with their puppy, Yona (Achnacarry Lady Penelope). It was dry but quite chilly sometimes, but the show was very busy and soon it was time to go into the class. All the dogs were in the same class as there was only one!! I won't go down the line but I was happy to win 1st place and Best of Breed with Alfie (Achnacarry Sir Alfred) and surprise.....Sophie puppy was 2nd. Later on we entered the brace with Sophie & Sasha and we were 4th so a good day was had by all. There a few photos below...not many mostly taken by Gary.

A busy Tiffany at Camperdown.
Next day off I went again by myself this time as Tim was busy gardening.
One day is quite enough for him at a dog show!!! I took Alfie, Sasha & Sophie.
This time there was two classes. A Post Graduate and an Open Class.
Unfortunately Beverley had put Yona in the wrong class and the show committee
wouldn't allow her to change which seemed a real shame as they had specially
created the Post Graduate class for the puppies. So there was only Sophie
and an Adult dog in the class (not Alfie!). You can imagine my surprise
and pleasure when Sophie won the class! Next was the Open Class where I
showed Alfie and Beverly kindly showed Sasha for me. Once again Alfie won
the class and was awarded Best of Breed. His owners, Agnes & Dougie Smith
were extremely pleased when I phoned to tell them of Alfie's successes.
Soon after that there was a large mixed puppy class in which I had entered
Sophie. She was 2nd much to my delight and behaved reasonably well!
We are improving!!!
Below is a piccie of Alfie and all his prizes.

That is about us up to date on Tiffany's page. Now I need to update the ponies' page again!! Below are several more pics of our dogs and Beverley and Gary's two Schnauzers.

4th July 2010 Ah well I didn't get back to this when I thought I would but here goes... I think what i need to do first of all is print a few up to date pics of Sophie and other puppies that I have managed to take. First of all one of Sophie taken in May making her 8 months old.

In May when Fife Show was on I was at the SKC Champ show held at Ingliston I took Sophie, Sasha and Alfie. I always think my dogs' coats are reasonable until I see some of the English dogs and their coat's are always so short compard with ours. However in I went with Alfie and he showed well enough and was awarded 2nd prize so that wasn't too bad. Next I went in with Sophie and I am afraid we need to practise more!!!! Next it was Sasha's turn and she was 3rd so passable. Here are some pics of our dogs and others of Phil Bolton and his puppy which we bred. He had a much better day winning 1st place and also Best Puppy.

16th June 2010 Just back to say pics added for Perth Dog Show and also to say I hope to update this page tomorrow.24th May 2010 Well, here I am at last! As always our life is full of ponies and dogs, the ponies keep us busy during the winter months with the feeding and the dogs keep us busy ...full stop..what with looking after them and also grooming other people's dogs! Anyway the next thing after February was Crufts in March. Our day for showing was on Saturday this year so we made our way down with Sophie and Alfie and checked into our usual hotel and met up with our Mini Schnauzer Friends, Jo and Jackie Willingale as well as Schnauzer friends, John and Mary Duffy. The day dawned and off we went. The entry was fairly good and I was on 1st with Alfie who behaved well enough but began to fiddle a bit when the Judge was looking at the final line up. Unfortunately it wasn't Alfie's day and we weren't placed. After Alfie we watched the rest of the dogs being judged and were delighted to see Sheana Martin's Veteran dog, Ch.Shered Snowy Knight win his class and be awarded Reserve Dog C.C. Eventually it was Sasha's turn and she showed very well thoroughly enjoying herself. She ran out well and the Judge, Mrs Arch commented on her muscles! We were delighted to be awarded 3rd place. Best of Breed went to Ch.Jalero Miss Ella at Danelbeks. Here are a few photos of our day, although the quality isn't too good.

The next show after Crufts was the Scottish Utility Breeds Show held at Boness and although Sophie was entered, unfortunately she came into season so that was the end of our practises before the SKC in May!! I took only Sasha and had a good day. She won her class and then went on to be Best of Breed. The following week we went to Perth Show again only with Sasha. Once again she won her class and was awarded Best of Breed then went on to be placed 4th in the Utility Group which pleased me. As it was Perth Canine Club's 125th Anniversary Show the rosettes were special ones so I was even more pleased to receive pretty rosettes into the bargain!. Here are a few pics. Sorry...off to bed...pics on soon!!!

14th February 2010 Last Saturday,6th February we went to the Caledonian Open Show held in The Highland Hall, Ingliston. I took Alfie, Tiffany's puppy and Sasha. The show was well supported and there were all sorts of dogs there and I had a very sociable day bumping into two Highland Pony people with their dogs! Anyway I had a good day with Alfie winning his class and Sasha also winning hers and then taking Best of Breed. Unfortunately we didn't get any further in the Group....nor did the Miniature Schnauzer, making us think that our Breed wasn't the Judge's preferred Breed. Still it was a good day and gave us a little practise for Crufts which will be here before we know it!! Once again here are a few more pics of Sophie and also of Rudi & Jody, Tiff's pups who are now 4 years old and brother & sister of Alfie above.

8th February 2010 Back again. Before I put more pics of some of the puppies I will put some of the Schnauzer Fun Day we had at the end of last year. It was run by Sheana Martin and friends and a great time was had by all. As always there were lots of Miniature Schnauzers but we flew the flag with Tiffany and two of her puppies, Rudi and Jody owned by Dick and Helen Peters. Here are some of the pics of the day kindly supplied by our new friends Gary and Bev Knox who now own one of Sasha's puppies as well as their Mini. We all enjoyed ourselves with the dogs playing "Hunt the Sausage"! and other games as well as practising Agility.

So...hopefully will follow some pics of the dogs including some of the puppies. At least those for which we have received pics from their owners.

I have some from the Schnauzer day run by my friend, Sheana Martin and
was held at The Perth Canine Dog Training Centre. It was a great day
and although there were mainly Miniatures there we did manage several
Standards. There were lots of party games and some Agility so a good time
was had by all.
24th January 2010 Happy New Year to all who read our web. HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone who comes on here and enjoys my ramblings! Where does the time go?! Since my last posts, we have been down to London to cheer on Echo of Achnacarry, a Stallion we bred that qualified for the Final Ridden Championships at Olympia. He actually gave a lovely show but didn't like the audience clapping, so was rather naughty and wouldn't stand still long enough for the Ridden Judge to examine him! He was good for the Conformation Judge and had good marks but his Ridden marks let him down. However it was all good experience for him and he still came home with his head held high and a Rosette into the bargain! Anyway enough of ponies (which should be on the pony page!) and more about the dogs. Sophie, our puppy is thriving well and gives us a lot of pleasure and lots of laughs! The other dogs also enjoy her and she has learnt a lot from just watching her. Poor Tiffany, Sophie's Grandmother has been lame for 3 months now and we eventually were referred to the same vet surgeon that sorted Teal's leg. Tiffany had to stay at the vet hospital for 2 days where she was x-rayed then had a little camera inserted into her elbow joint. She would appear to have some arthritis but the vet also discovered that she has a very bad infection in her joint fluid. She has been on antibiotics for two weeks but at the moment there is no improvement. We are hopeful that she will soon be back to her usual bouncy self though. Christmas came and went with all the dogs enjoying us opening our pressies and also enjoyed their own pressies too! Of course we also had the snow to contend with!! We had at least a foot and a half here which of course was nothing to what they had in the North of Scotland. The dogs thought it was great fun and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Apart from all that I have tidied up Alfie's coat....Alfie is one of Tiffany's pups now aged 4 years and is of course Sasha's brother. I qualified him for Crufts for his owners, Dougie & Anges and they have kindly agreed that we can take him there. So I need to keep on top of his coat as well as Sasha's whilst trying to sort Sophie's puppy coat out! We managed to get to one puppy class before the snow arrived and since then we haven't managed any more because the car park is solid ice!! We start again 3rd February. Instead I took Sophie to the Ring Craft for her first time on Tuesday last to at least socialise her and also to teach her to walk on the lead. She also met her brother, another Alfie! They both thoroughly enjoyed themselves and played quite a lot. I am looking forward to showing Sophie at her first show which will probably be Perth Canine Show in April then at the Scottish Kennel Club Show at Ingliston, Edinburgh. Here are a few piccies of Sophie, her siblings and the rest of our lot! 6th December 2009 Just a quick update to say that Sophie, our puppy has settled well which was easy for her as she has her Mum, Granny and friend Teal! I have heard from a few of the owners and their puppies all seem to be coping. Anyone of them who may be reading this and the others...please when you have time...e-mail me now and then...or phone and let me know if they are still doing well. I miss them but life is becoming easier again. I am busy with dog grooming and feeding ponies at the moment but soon we will be off down to London to Olympia to cheer on our pony that I bred, Echo of Achnacarry who qualified for the Mountain and Moorland Ridden Finals so we must go and cheer him and his rider, Pam Brown on. Anyway...for Sophie...puppy classes begin this coming Wednesday where she will see two of her siblings and perhaps a third!! the Standard Schnazers are taking over the puppy class!!!! After a few months we will then go to Ring Craft to practise our showing skills!!! Here are a few updated piccies:.......

21st November 2009 I don't know where the time goes but it goes!!! I can hardly believe that all the puppies have left now and gone to their new homes. The kitchen seems huge now that the pen has been taken down. It also seems very quiet now that we don't have 10 puppies! Instead we have our own little girl...Sophie...who of course is lucky still to have her Mother and Granny and "Aunty Teal" and Sheaba..our Burmese cat ..who rules the roost! She is enjoying life and the freedom of no pen anymore. She also loves playing in the garden with the other dogs and is into everything she can find. She is great fun and keeps Tim and I on our toes. I have heard from all the new owners and they all report that the puppies have all settled well and apart from some little hicups all seem to be fitting into the family routine. Here are a few piccies of the puppies before they left..on their own and also with their new owners.

Tim and I wish all the new owners all the best with their puppies and we hope they all keep in touch and give us updates from time to time about how the puppies are progressing. Meanwhile I can now try and catch up with all the washing and ironing and housework!!!! Well...I will in between looking after the dogs and riding the ponies and handling the youngsters! Today I gave Sasha a well earned haircut and she looks very swish. I will try and take a piccie and put it on here. Granny also had a tidy up. We have a show in January to go to with Sasha and Tiffany and also Alfie from Tiffany's litter so that is something to aim for. Sophie will be going to puppy classes first of all then I will probably take her to ring craft classes also in preparation for her first show!! Whether she will behave is another matter!!! Meanwhile Tim and I are looking forward to visiting Olympia where Echo of Achnacarry a stallion I bred has qualified for the final of The Mountain & Moorland Championships there. Until the next time...........16th October 2009 Just anothe short update to report the puppies are now 5 weeks old and they are doing really well. Their personalities are beginning to show now and they are very entertaining and we just don't seem to be able to get a lot of work done these days!! By the time the puppies are cleaned out then fed and watered then cleaned out again it is almost time to feed them again! We have homes for 7 or 8 of them depending on one person who is still to confirm. That is not too bad considering we haven't really advertised them apart from on here and various Vets Surgeries!. Here are a few new pics.

Puppies again eating!
We wormed them again for the second time and it was worth a guinea a minute! They squirmed, chewed fingers and struggled!! We put them in a large hat and suspended them by mini scales....very effective! We had to weigh them to work out how much to administer. Anyway the deed was eventually done much to everyone's relief. They are all putting weight on well even the little ones who should soon catch up. They always have a few half hours "mad play" then they all crash out again until their next feed.Until the next time.......... 30th September 2009 Just a quick update to say that the puppies are thriving and Sasha is doing them well...even with the help of Granny Tiffy who insists going in to help each day!! The puppies are now 3 weeks old and although there are still two smaller ones they have all put on weight...doubled themselves up and still eating! Yesterday I tried them with some puppy biccies starter and almost all of them were interested. Here are a few pics..........

15th September 2009 Well......it has happened!! Sasha started to whelp on Tuesday 8th September around 10.00pm ish and after producing her first two puppies had a good rest until after 12.00am. She eventually finished the following morning around 9.00am. In total she produced 14 puppies!!! which was way too many...and unfortunately one puppy hadn't reached full term, one was still born one little boy got underneath her later on that day and was squashed, much to my sadness and on Thursday morning, Tim saw Sasha pushing away another puppy which turned out to be a little bitch. Despite all my efforts she slipped away. However that is nature's way and we have to concentrate on the living. We have 6 bitches and 4 dogs and they are going from strength to strength. Sasha is a terrific mother although somewhat lively.....which no doubt will pass on to her puppies!! She feeds them well and is eating plenty and drinking well herself. They are growing rapidly and I shall try to update this page with their pics. Here are a few piccies of the newborns.
Sasha with her brood! Born 090909...a Birthday that we won't forget!
Here is what I think a super picture of Sasha's mother, Tiffany (Odivane Sultry Sally at Achnacarry) helping with the puppies. She wanted to go into the whelping pen so much, and as Sasha had no objection I allowed her to go in, and she was so gentle and began by cleaning Sasha, then moved on to a few of the puppies.....She did this for the first couple of days but now she seems to have taken a back step!! Perhaps she is afraid she may be landed with the whole job!!!
Here is a lovely photo of Sasha with some of her puppies and beneath it one of the puppies on their own.

That is a few pictures for the moment......so.....until the next time.... 4th September 2009 Here I am at last . Quite a lot has been happening since my last post with the dogs and the ponies which are updated on our pony page. We have actually had a very good showing year with the ponies, but on the odd occasion that I have had the dogs out they have also done well. Since the last update the next show I went to was the SKC at Ingliston where I showed Sasha only. The entry was reasonable and we enjoyed ourselves and Sasha was 3rd in a good class of Limit bitches. Here is a piccie of her and myself in the ring.

After SKC we were busy with the ponies and one of them did us proud at The Royal Highland Show where she won her class then went on to be Reserve Female Champion. Needless to say we were over the moon with the result. The dogs always go to that show too as we have to stay for the week as our ponies are one of the Native Breeds of Scotland so have to be on show to the general public. After the Highland Show and others which are reported on our pony page the next major event was.........not only did Sasha come into season...the other two did too!! Ah! well at least it got it all over and done with!! However at SKC we had a word with Breeders Phil Boulton and Adam Railton regarding the possibility of mating Sasha to one of their dogs. They very kindly agreed, so when she eventually came into season we arranged to take her down to Derbyshire, which although rather a long way down always gives us an excuse to visit and stay with our good friend, Alison Payne who also breeds Highland Ponies. ......So....off we went leaving the other dogs in the capable hands of our other friends, Jimmy and Brenda Reekie. We had a lovely time down there and to cut a long story short, the deed was done and we brought Sasha home hopefully pregnant. I can report now that she is now heavily in whelp and we are just waiting for the big day which should be approximately on 12th/ 13th September. Here is a piccie of CH. Ask 'IM FROM BOUJAN Sasha's boyfriend!! Pet name Piglet!!!!

The next major happening was the weekend past when I took "Alfie" Achnacarry Sir Alfred to SKC Champ show at Ingliston. His owners, Dougie & Agnes Smith kindly allowed me to take him and show him for them. He was entered into the Limit class and to my delight he won! I have to mention that this was the first time as a 3 year old dog he had been to any Championship show. He has been to loads of Limit and Open Shows and done very well at them but somehow we never seemed to get our act together in time to take him to a Champ Show! Anyway I was so pleased and even more so when in the final line-up of Junior Dog,Postgrad Dog, Limit Dog and Open Dog he was awarded the Reserve Challenge Certificate!! Not bad for first time out at a Champ Show!!...Here is a pic of him and his prizes.

That is us up to date so far. Now we are just quietly waiting for Sasha to whelp safely and enjoy her puppies.........So......Until the next time...9th May 2009 Here I am again. Since my last update we have been to three shows. One was The Scottish Utility Top Dog with Tiffany and Alfie. We had an enjoyable day but Tiffany although they got through the first heat both were knocked out in the next one. The day went to Karen Davidson's Mini, Acasia Showtime Girl (Lola) who not only won Best Puppy but went on to win Best Top Dog which was a super win for them. Next we went to The Scottish Utility Show with Tiffany, Sasha and Alfie. Tiffany was 2nd in her class, Sasha 3rd in hers but Alfie was the Star! He won Post Graduate Class and also won the Open Dog Class. He then went on to win Best Opposite Sex so a good day was had by Alfie and his owners. Jo Willingale showed him on their behalf. Below is a picture of Alfie with his trophies.

I told the story earlier of Maisy who went to live with Monkey. Monkey is one of Tiffany's puppies (Achnacarry Mischief Maker) and his owners, Andrew and Bridget now have Maisy whose owner wasn't able to keep her any longer. Here is some more pics of them both.

After Scottish Utility Show we then went to Perth Show where Tiffany won a 2nd prize and Sasha was 4th ...so rather disappointing there! We have a show this coming Friday at Ingliston but I am rather dubious as neither dog's coat is looking its best so I am wondering if I should go...but I have paid my dues so I probably will go. That is all our up to date news for now so.......... Until the next time...........23rd March 2009 Here we are at last. Life seems so busy these days between dog shows and dog walking and dog grooming as well as mucking out ponies and riding ponies then feeding them I never seem to get to the computer. However today it is blowing a gale and quite cold so I felt it was a good day to update the web page.I have updated from the Caledonian Show to Crufts which appears below. Since the show at Cupar we went to the Caledonian show in Edinburgh where Tiffany was 2nd in her class and Sasha was 1st in hers. However the Best of Breed went to Roxmic Influential Lady shown and owned by Karen Davidson. After that it was February which once again was filled with me grooming my own dogs or other peoples'. During that month I had a phone call from someone near Aberfeldy who unfortunately could no longer keep her young Standard Schnauzer bitch and a mutual friend had passed on my phone no. She came to visit us and she got on very well with our girls so photos were duly taken and sent down to friends who had one of our "puppies" who is now 3 years old! They fell in love with her and to cut a long story short are besotted with her and fortunately she gets on very well with Monkey their own Schnuazer so a happy story all round. Her previous owner is pleased and relieved that she is in a good loving home. Here are some pics of her...she is called Maisy.

Soon it was time to go to Crufts to show Sasha and Tiffany on March 6th. I had done a lot of grooming and tidying the girl's coats and with a well known Schnauzer Judge just giving me a few tips I felt I was ready! The morning we left we had had quite a fall of snow and thought the journey down may have been fraught but actually once we got onto the motorway the roads were clear and apart from a little snow now and then we had a good journey down. The closer we got to Birmingham the weather seemed to improve which cheered me up as there is nothing worse than wet weather with a Schnauzer as it messes up their coats and funrishings. Our friends with their Miniature Schnauzers were also staying at our hotel so we met up with them at night for dinner and spent a very enjoyable time there. The next day dawned and apart from a little frost it was a beautiful sunny day although we would of course be inside the NEC building. The classes weren't as well filled as previous years but both Sasha and Tiffany had at least 7/8 dogs in their classes but unfortunately although I was pleased with the way they ran out and behaved we weren't even placed. Disappointing but the standard at Crufts is always high and to get a ticket of any kind is always a bonus. At least in previous years Tiffany has had a 3rd in a class of 10 and she and Sasha have had reserves (4th Prize)in other years. We had a lovely time chatting to friends and of course the shopping is a MUST down there so eventually....tired and with a lighter purse we caught the shuttle bus back to our hotel. Our Mini friends also hadn't managed to take home any tickets so we drowned our sorrows in the usual way!!! Here are some pictures of the day and one of our snowy journey.
