Clover of Whitefield

Grey Mare Born April 1994 Sire: Viscount of Whitefield Dam:Gedloch Myrtle

Clover was born on 20th April at West Whitefield and was with the Bairds until Lorna Hepburn bought her as a three year old. As a yearling and a two year old she was 2nd both times at Stirling Foal Show. She won her class as a yearling at the Royal Highland Show thus winning the Alex and Dorothy Dewar Perpetual Challenge Silver Cup. She also won her class as a 2 year old at Kinross Show. With Lorna she was lightly shown and won 1 Championship in hand. When she was rising four years Lorna sent her to Hamish Cameron to be broken to saddle and I think she was a handful but needless to say Hamish did a grand job with her and I have to say that she is one of the most comfortable ponies I have had the pleasure to ride. Lorna had great fun with her and I think it was with a heavy heart that in December 2000 she decided to give her to me. She felt that she was being wasted where she was and knew that we would show her both in hand and under saddle and that she could come and visit her any time. She also felt that she needed the company of other ponies, Lorna having lost her old mare Mavis of Hunthall. We only managed one show last year because of the Foot and Mouth but Clover came 2nd in hand and 1st in the Novice Ridden and 2nd in the Open Ridden and was Reserve Ridden Champion so we were very pleased. This year we hope to show her some more in hand and under saddle then perhaps next year we will put her in foal.
