Cream Dun Stallion Born May 1996 Sire:Arran of Orangefield Dam:Feolin of Orangefield
Tarka was born on 25th May and was bred by retired Vet, Bert Macrae. Up until we bought Tarka we had travelled up and down the country sending our mares to different Stallions and although it didn't worry us too much we thought it would be nice to have our own Stallion. Tarka was bought at 1 year 5 months approximately and soon settled down at Pitmenzie having Mischief of Achnacarry for company during the winter and then in the summer he ran with Mannie of Millfield and Zeus of Achnacarry. He is a joy to handle, his temperament is impeccable and he is a complete gentleman with his mares. We didn't use him at Stud until he was three years old when he ran with an old mare and Tim's mare Craigiebrig Skye who blankly refused to get in foal. However in 2001 Midge had a handsome colt foal - Rannoch of Achnacarry and I am very pleased with him. In 2002 we are only expecting one foal from Corrie as Midge aborted as previously mentioned. However, two visiting mares are in foal to him and we look forward to seeing them. For the future we will continue using Tarka and also hope to break him to saddle.
